Georgia shares data on health insurance premiums

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27

The Georgian private medical insurance premiums make up a total of 195 million lari ($62.7 million) in the first half of 2021, Trend reports via the Insurance State Supervision Service.

The volume of premiums paid increased by 13.7 percent compared to the previous year.

This year the average monthly cost of a health insurance package was 51.1 lari ($16.44) per month against 47 lari ($15.12) per month in 2020.

According to the Insurance State Supervision Service, in 2021 a total of 635,876, people took out private medical insurance that is 17 percent of Georgia’s population.

Compared to the previous year, the number of insured persons increased by 28,656, or 4.5 percent.

GPI Holding ranks first in the health insurance market with 29 percent of raised premiums followed by "Imedi L" with 21 percent, "Ardi" is the third with 14 percent of raised premiums, "Insurance Group" - 7 percent share, "PSP Insurance" a 6 percent share, the rest of the market players account for 23 percent of the total raised premiums.
