BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 27. In total, 6.3 million bank checks worth about 2.74 quadrillion rials (about $65.3 billion) were exchanged in Iran for the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2022), Trend reports via the report of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, this is an increase of 49.2 percent in value and 20.9 percent in number, compared to the 1st month (March 21 through April 20, 2022).

"The checks exchanged in the 2nd month were mainly registered in Iran’s Tehran Province (31.2 percent in number, 49.8 percent in value), Isfahan Province (11.1 percent in number,7.3 percent in terms of value), Razavi Khorasan Province (7.3 percent in number, 5.4 percent in value)," the statistics said.

According to the statistics, more than 5.7 million checks worth 2.4 quadrillion rials (about $57.2 billion) were received in Iran in the 2nd month. This is an increase of 47.2 percent in value and 20 percent in number, compared to the 1st month.

The CBI noted that about 613,000 checks worth about 341 trillion rials (about $8.12 billion) bounced in the 2nd month.

The reason for the bounce of checks was the lack of available funds. Thus, 594,000 checks worth 330 trillion rials (about $7.85 billion) bounced for these reasons in the 2nd month.

"The checks 96.8 percent in value and 97.1 in number were bounced due to lack of available funds or deficit," the statistics said.
