BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. Azerbaijani A-Z Czech Engineering and US Smartflower Solar have signed an official cooperation agreement, Trend reports.
The Smartflower power plant mimics the appearance of a sunflower, with its petals opening towards the rising sun in the morning. This unique design enhances the efficiency of the solar panels by 40 percent compared to traditional solar power plants.
With a power output of 2.5 kW, the Smartflower generates 6,500 kWh per year, sufficient to power an average household. It can either feed energy into the grid or store it in a battery for nighttime use. Equipped with automatic closure during high winds and at night, as well as self-cleaning capabilities during the day, the Smartflower ensures reliability. Additionally, it can be remotely controlled, allowing real-time monitoring of energy production.
Smartflower stands as a remarkable blend of technology and nature. A-Z Czech Engineering, supported by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, has completed the construction of the Smartflower solar power plant in Khojaly, a town recently liberated from occupation. The installation in Khojaly's park has captivated the public with its impressive design and functionality. Besides generating energy, this innovative plant will serve as a charging station for electric vehicles, bicycles, and scooters.
Azerbaijan, set to host the COP29 climate conference, is actively deploying green energy technologies to combat climate change. Smartflower represents the pinnacle of smart and sustainable technology, symbolizing Azerbaijan's commitment to a green future. Its presence will showcase Azerbaijan's technological prowess and receive a warm reception at the COP29 conference. Furthermore, the company has other projects lined up in preparation for COP29.
This November, Azerbaijan will host COP29. This decision was made at the COP28 plenary meeting held in Dubai on December 11 last year. Baku will become the center of the world and will receive about 70–80,000 foreign guests.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 to prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system. COP - the Conference of the Parties, is the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. There are 198 countries that are parties to the Convention. Unless the parties agree otherwise, the COP is held annually. The first COP event took place in March 1995 in Germany's Berlin, and its secretariat is located in Bonn.
