Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 November / Trend / The delegation of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan and Azerpocht State enterprise participated in the session of the highest governing organs of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) - Administration Council and the Council of Post Operation.

Within the session, Azerbaijan obtained representation in the majority of the working and project groups, which will function in the composition of Administration Council and the Council of Post Operation, the Ministry said.

From 29 October to 14 November, the meeting of UPU was attended by more than 1,000 representatives from 102 countries, 8 international organizations, 19 regional unions and other structures.

The Ministry of Communications considers that Azerbaijan's membership to the governing organs of UPU gives an opportunity to the country to influence on forming of decisions on basic questions of the activity of organization. Thus, within the session, there was accepted one of the nine proposals of Azerbaijan regarding additions and changes to the Convention of UPU, which creates conditions for obtaining additional incomes as a result of cancellation of limitations, established for the minimum balance in the mutual accounts on the international exchange.

In addition, as a result of this correction, the possibility appears for the legalization of debts on the mutual accounts between the post operators not depending on the amount and also for eliminating the unclearness during the preparation of statistical reports and conducting of audit inspections.

Within sessions, bilateral meetings took place with the representatives of the post administrations of several countries, were discussed the questions on the Azerbaijan post.
