The control center of the Azerbaijani Communication and IT Ministry is operating to put the third and the fourth stages of AzDATACOM national Internet infrastructure into action, Deputy Communication and IT Minister, Iltimas Mammadov, said in an interview posted on the official website of New Azerbaijan party.
He said that at present, the Sahil settlementhas been connected to the network. A Baku-Astara branch has been put into operation. It connects the Alat settlement and regional centers of Shirvan, Salyan, Bilasuvar, Jalilabad, Massali, Lankaran and Astara. The Yevlakh-Shirvan network connects the regional centers of Barda, Agcabedi, Beylogan, Imishli, Saatli, Sabirabad and Shirvan
At present, operations are being held to connect other regions to the network.
Operations are held within the project 'The national initiative for an e-governance network'.
The network's capacity is 10 Gbit/s. It will allow the development of modern tools of e-government (e-commerce, long-distance education, e-health, etc.), as well as give real opportunities to remove the 'digital gap' in Azerbaijan.
