The Physics Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences will attend the constituent congress in Dubna, where a decision will be made on establishment of nanotechnology innovation center of CIS countries, head of the laboratory for high energy physics of the Physics Institute, Hovsat Abdinov, told Trend .

The constituent congress is scheduled for November. The decision on its establishment was made during the organizational and informational forum "The Establishment of the International Innovative Nanotechnology Centre of the CIS countries" held in Dubna in early July.

The leading scientists of the CIS countries are expected to work on practical projects in nanotechnology in the special economic zone.

Center, which has all chances to become a leading one in Europe, will be established on the basis of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and Russian Research Center Kurchatov Institute.

According to Abdinov, the database, which will be available to all countries joining the center, will be established in Dubna. Being a member of the center, Azerbaijan will be informed about developments in the nanotechnology sector of the CIS countries, as well as of the world.

At present, the establishment of two centers, similar to "Silicon Valley", is underway. The first center will work on computer technologies and the second center will work on the developments in nanotechnology. The Center for Nanotechnology in Dubna will act as coordinator of member countries' developments, which will pass expertise directly in Dubna.
