Baku hosted an international conference on the "Development of Cable Television in Azerbaijan: Achievements and Prospects" last week. The representatives of cable operators in Azerbaijan, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Turkey signed a protocol of intent to establish the Eurasian Cable TV Association (ECTA) at the event.
Following his Baku visit, Russian Cable TV Association President Yuri Pripachkin gave an interview to the Russia 24 television channel, where he spoke about the conference, noting the success of cable TV operators in Azerbaijan. He paid particular attention to the document signed by the eight countries following the event.
Pripachkin expressed hope that the establishment of this international organization will help to meet the interests of cable associations in different countries.
The Azerbaijani Association of Cable Operators (ACOA) Samir Gurbanov told Trend that his organization is open to all national cable operators, as well as other telecommunications market structures. He stressed the ACOA's important role in establishing mutually beneficial relations among both domestic and international players.
Gurbanov is a member of the ECTA organizing committee.
