Azerbaijani mobile operators Azercell and Bakcell will be provided with licenses for the deployment of mobile services in 3G standard after the companies present all necessary documentation, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Communications and IT Iltimas Mammadov said.
"When the documents are given fully, the license will be issued. There are some shortages in the documents, presented by operators," he said.
Earlier, Minister of Communication and IT Ali Abbasov said that a working procedure has been completed for obtaining licenses by Azercell and Bakcell for the deployment of mobile services in 3G standard. They will get licenses soon.
The official license fee is 11,000 manat.
Azerbaijan has three mobile operators - Bakcell, Azercell and Azerfon. At present, only Azerfon has a license to render 3G telecommunications services.
Operators who receive a license must significantly invest in infrastructure. They must upgrade network equipment, switches, and base stations.
