Azerbaijan signed an agreement on the establishment of the Eurasian Association of Cable Television (EAKT). Its members serve more than 40 million subscribers in 12 countries, the Russian Cable TV Association said.
The signing took place during the exhibition and conference in the field of broadcasting CSTB 2011, which took place in Moscow on Feb. 1-3.
The agreement was signed by Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, Latvia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Poland and Estonia.
The Memorandum of Intent on creating EAKT was signed in Baku on Dec. 3.
EAKT aims to exchange experience in technology, business development, and improving the regulatory base to meet the needs of subscribers who use the services of EAKT members.
EAKT is the third organization in the world on the number of subscribers after similar organizations in Europe and North America.
The communities from China, South Korea and other countries showed interest to join EAKT.
