By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:
Citizens of Azerbaijan will be abl to travel to Turkey with the new identity cards, a source in the country's IT market told Trend.
The source told Trend that, such an opportunity appears in the case if the corresponding agreements are reached with the Turkish side.
"In the meantime, the two countries have signed a Memorandum on the mutual recognition of the electronic signatures. It is not implausible that, the expansion of cooperation will be possible on the basis of this Memorandum, which will allow the owners of new identity cards to use them when crossing the border. In addition, the new identity cards will meet the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which will also facilitate their use at the border," the source said.
The issuance of new identity cards is expected from September 1, the source said.
The new identity card chip will have personal information on the owner, data of two certificates (authentication and e-signature0, and the so-called domestic applications the functions of which, as the source said, will allow for automatic update of information about the owner of the identity card, for example, in case of change of surname or updating of information on family status.
"This information will be automatically updated by means of special card readers as soon as the citizen applies for any service to the authorized body, where these devices will be installed. Readers will be used in the ASAN service, in some institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice," the source said.
