Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 18

By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:

The launch of postal money transfers from Azerbaijan via the STEFI system to Latvia, Estonia and Turkmenistan is delayed for technical reasons, Azerpoct LLC told Trend.

The project to launch STEFI in these directions has been presented to the postal administrations of these countries, the company said.

"Also, for technical reasons, it is currently not possible to exchange money through STEFI with Kyrgyzstan. The contract for the deployment of this type of postal money transfers has also been sent to the postal operator of Kyrgyzstan," Azerpoct said.

Today Azerpoct offers money transfer services via this system to Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Kyrgyzstan.

The STEFI system has been developed by the Postal Technology Center of the Universal Postal Union and allows to move from the paper-based exchange of international postal transfers to the electronic one.

The main advantage for the Azerbaijani post is that the income received within the framework of transactions under the STEFI system remains at the disposal of Azerpoct.
