One of the banks in Azerbaijan has test launched the "Single POS Terminal" project, a source in the country's financial market told Trend.

The bank's name has not been made public yet.

More functional POS terminals, which provide the possibility of accepting payments under the terms of all existing banks, are to be used in stores.

Each bank has its own rules and commissions, so shop assistants need to search among several POS terminals for the one that corresponds to the buyer's bank card to receive a payment. The new concept eliminates this problem.

In addition, it allows stores to reduce the cost of maintaining several POS terminals at once, and allows banks to expand their coverage.

According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, by end August 2018, the number of POS terminals in the country was 65,762, of which 38,537 were installed in Baku, 27,225 in other cities and districts of the country.

Since early 2018, the number of POS terminals in Azerbaijan has increased by 581 or 0.89 percent.
