Azerbaijani domains: one successful phishing attack per 394 attempts

In Azerbaijani domain zone, one successful phishing attack from 394 attempted accounts for 0.25 percent of the total number of attacks registered in the .az domain, Trend reports referring to the report of Netcraft analytical company.

More than 31,300 websites have been registered in the "az" domain zone.

The analysis is based on the Netcraft Toolbar program, which is a plug-in for browsers. The program notifies users of a potentially dangerous Internet resources and prevention of a phishing attack.

Netcraft Toolbar is used on more than 4,200 computers in Azerbaijan.

Netcraft reports that one successful phishing attack accounted for 287 websites in Ukraine, 853 websites in Uzbekistan, 464 websites in Russia, 463 websites in Kyrgyzstan, 705 websites in Belarus, 431 websites Armenia, 987 websites in Kazakhstan and 243 websites in Georgia.

A phishing attack is carried out by means of mass mailing of emails on behalf of popular brands. The letter often contains a direct link to a false website of the brand, which is not visually different from the original one. Users may enter valuable information on such fake websites, allowing scammers access to their web or bank accounts.
