Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 18

By Huseyn Veliyev, Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

Cryptographic protection of the electronic signature in the new identity cards of Azerbaijan has been strengthened, a source close to the project told Trend.

This was made possible thanks to the introduction of a new encryption method, which allows for a more reliable level of protection.

"The new method of protection will soon be applied in traditional e-signatures issued by the national certification center," the source said.

E-signature simplifies the access of citizens to e-services of state institutions, which are available on the e-government portal (e-gov.az).

Currently, 335 of the 436 approved e-services are integrated into the portal. The total number of e-services posted on the websites of state institutions of Azerbaijan reaches 494.

For citizens, the cost of e-signature with a three-year period of its use is 18 manats. For individuals and legal entities engaged in business activities, the cost of e-signature is 36 and 72 manats, respectively, and for employees of state institutions it is 58 manats.

The official exchange rate on December 17 is 1.7 AZN/USD.
