Azexport portal talks availability of Facebook Shop in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3

By Nargiz Ismayilova - Trend:

If the Facebook Shop service is successfully tested and provides full functionality in other countries, it will widely be used in Azerbaijan, Manager of the Azexport portal under the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) Aykhan Gadashov said, Trend reports.

“Inasmuch as the service launched by Facebook is currently under testing, it is fully functional only for the US. At the next stage, it is planned to provide all the service’s possibilities for the countries of Western Europe,” the manager noted.

“It’s about an online payment for the purchase and delivery of the products ordered via Facebook. Facebook Shop serves as a showcase for demonstrating products in other countries,” said Gadashov.

“I don’t believe that the service will gain popularity and will be widely used in the current situation,” he noted.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been severely affected by the restrictive measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). New service providers created by Facebook, at no additional cost, offer products and services directly to customers through a digital sales channel.

Thus, the Facebook Shop service can also be evaluated as a great support for small businesses, which allows avoiding more damage from the financial crisis.
