Uzbekistan to abolish excise tax on mobile services

Uzbekistan will abolish excise tax on mobile services from January 1, 2023, Trend reports referring to the governmental portal of Uzbekistan.

According to the information, the decision was stipulated by the presidential decree on measures to attract investment in the further development of information technology and communications.

The document says that according to the proposal of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications, the excise tax rate on mobile services for mobile operators will be reduced from January 1, 2022 to 10 percent, and starting from 1 January 2023 mobile services are not subject to excise tax.

It is reported excise tax on mobile services have been introduced in Uzbekistan since January 1, 2019 and currently accounts for 15 percent of the total cost of services provided.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan abolished excise tax on 73 commodity items starting from January 1, 2021, including food products (20 types of goods - juices, cheese, cottage cheese, margarine, confectionery flour products, sausages and similar meat products), electrical engineering (35 types of goods - refrigerators, TVs, gas stoves, vacuum cleaners, washing machines) and others.

The Ministry of Finance stated that this would ensure equal conditions for entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan.
