ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 21. The number of Internet users in Turkmenistan currently stands at more than 3.12 million people, Trend reports.
According to the data, 410,000 people use wired Internet, and about 2.7 million residents use cellular connections.
Furthermore, thanks to the launch of national networks, the use of an external Internet channel throughout the country has reached 108 gigabits/sec, and the internal channel exceeded 70 gigabits/sec.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan's Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency (Turkmen Communication) and Azerbaijani AzerTelecom LLC are working together on the construction of a fiber-optic communication line from Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) to Siyazan (Azerbaijan) on the bottom of the Caspian Sea.
The implementation of this project will make it possible to digitalize the connection between Europe and Asia.
