Azerbaijan's Caspel, the official partner of 3COM in the country, is about to introduce Wi-Max and Wi-Fi Internet services. These services are expected to be launched by the Company starting from spring, 2007, Mubariz Piriyev, General Manager of Caspel told Trend.
Wi-Fi - (Wireless Fidelity) is one of the formats of digital data transmission via IEEE 802.11b- standard radio channels. That is an internationally-popular technology that allows organizing collective connections of users to the Global Network. On the basis of this technology, any client of hotel, cafe, restaurant, or business-centre gains a chance to a mobile connection to the Internet, thereby the freedom of travel (within the hot-spot). That who has a briefcase computer (notebook or pocket computer) equipped with Wi-Fi module, may connect to the Internet with a speed equal to a high-capacity dedicated line traffic (up to 11 РњBit/sec). At the same time, connection of the Global Network is carried out without any wires and modems which makes the user's connection to the Internet much easier.
Wi-Max (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is a commercial name of the standard connection accepted in January, 2003 and supported by an industrial group consisting of tens of known IT companies.
