Azerbaijani Communications Ministry Expands CDMA Network

The Ministry of Communication & Information Technology of Azerbaijan is eager to expand the network of Code Division Multiple Access CDMA in region.

The Ministry informed Trend that the Production Unit Aztelekom (PU) is carrying out the relevant work. New CDMA stations have been installed in Masally and Shamkir Districts of Azerbaijan, while the installation of new stations is underway in Guba and Khachmaz Districts.

At present the number of CDMA subscribers at enterprises of the Ministry of Communications exceeds 5,400.

CDMA is a digital wireless technology set up by GSM and firstly applied by QUALCOMM. CDMA converts the speech in the digital information that is sent through a wireless network as a radio signal. Introduced in 1995 as a commercial product, CDMA is one of the most instant disseminating wireless technology in the World. In 1999, International Telecommunications Union selected CDMA as an industrial standard for new wireless system of 3G.
