Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend S. Babayeva / Profits from mobile communications in Azerbaijan amounted to AZN 128.5 mln in January-April, with total profits in the communications field of AZN 192.7mln. A source at the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan said on 16 May that the profits from mobile communications increased by 30.7%, compared to the same period of 2006.
The total number of the subscribers in Azerbaijan is 3.6mln, including active and passive users. The most part of the subscribers (over 2.5mln people) use the Azercell joint venture.
Besides Azercell Telecom, mobile communication services in Azerbaijan in compliance with GSM standard are provided by the Bakcell company and Azerfon joint venture (Nar Mobile trademark).
