Azercell Launches Another GPRS/MMS Roaming Service

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / Azerbaijan's mobile operator Azercell Telecom JV has put into operation a GPRS/MMS roaming service with USA Cincinnati Bell Wireless operator and Globe Telecom from the Philippines, the Company reports. This is the third GPRS/MMS roaming agreement between Azercell and the US and the first one with the Philippines. At present, Azercell's subscribers use the services of American T-Mobile and Cingular Wireless operators.

Up until today, Azercell Telecom JV signed GPRS/MMS roaming agreements with ninetynetwork operators from forty-twocountries around the world.

Today, the number of subscribers exceeds 2.5mln. The company covers 78% of the territory and 99% of the population of Azerbaijan with its mobile communication network.

Azercell JSC was established on 19 January 1996 by Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS and the Azerbaijan Ministry of Telecommunications.

Azercell Telekom is a joint venture of the Azerbaijani Telecommunication and IT Ministry (35.7%) and Fintur Holdings BV (64.3 %), with 58.55% belonging to TeliaSonera and 41.45% to Turkcell .
