Uzbekistan intends to boost number of internatonal flights to Samarkand

The Government of Uzbekistan intends to increase the number of charter and regular flights to Samarkand from abroad, as provided for by the Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated Sept. 30 on additional measures for the effective use and development of the tourism potential of the Samarkand region, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

The government instructed the Ministry of Transport, together with the State Committee for Tourism Development, to hold talks with foreign airlines on opening new flights based on existing tourist demand in promising areas within two months.

Furthermroe, at the request of local and foreign travel companies, charter flights to Samarkand airport should be arranged for the transportation of foreign tourists.

In addition, the Ministry of Transport, together with Uzbekistan Airways and Uzbekistan Airports, was instructed to develop air routes to Samarkand from the CIS countries, as well as from China, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Japan, South Korea and European countries to increase tourist flow.
