Georgia reveals number of international visitors to country in August 2020

A total of 43,658 international visitors crossed the Georgian border in August 2020, Trend reports via the National Tourism Administration.

The number of visitors is 96 percent less than in August 2019.

According to the data, 92 percent of visitors arrived by land transport and 6.6 percent by air. Some 1.7 percent of visitors visited the country by rail and sea.

Turkey - 16,316 visitors, a decrease of 89.5 percent;

Georgia (non-residents) - 4,722 visitors, a decrease of 91.2 percent;

Russia - 4,390 visitors, a decrease of 97.9 percent

Azerbaijan - 3,757 visitors, a decrease of 98.3 percent;

Ukraine - 996 visitors, a decrease of 96.5 percent;

Belarus - 852 visitors, a decrease of 93.8 percent;

Uzbekistan - 829 visitors, a decrease of 54.1 percent;

Kazakhstan - 472 visitors, a decrease of 97.1 percent;

Germany - 430 visitors, a decrease of 96.6 percent;

Bulgaria - 267 visitors, a decrease of 78.7 percent;

France - 235 visitors, a decrease of 96 percent;

Tajikistan - 227 visitors, a decrease of 40.1 percent;

Latvia - 193 visitors, a decrease of 90.9 percent;

Kyrgyzstan - 138 visitors, a decrease of 87.6 percent.

As for the revenues of the tourism sector, in July 2020 this figure fell by 97 percent year-on-year to $11.2 million.
