BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 21. As many as 143,814 foreigners visited Azerbaijan in December 2022, up by 47.13 percent compared to the same month of 2021 (97,748), Trend reports citing the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

From January through December 2022, a total of 1.6 million tourists visited Azerbaijan, which was more than twice the same period in 2021 (790,062).

Most of the foreigners who visited Azerbaijan in December 2022 were citizens of Russia (42,700 people), Türkiye (28,400 people), Iran (12,600 people), Georgia (9,600 people), and the United Arab Emirates (9,200 people).

This indicator is followed by India (7,600 people), Pakistan (4,400 people), Uzbekistan (2,800 people), Saudi Arabia (2,600 people), and Kazakhstan (2,400 people).

Since the beginning of 2022, foreigners in Azerbaijan have made two billion manat ($1.17 billion) in transactions via bank cards.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, 1.602 million foreigners and stateless persons from 178 countries visited Azerbaijan in 2022, which was twice the 2021 indicator.

Out of the total number of foreign visitors, 27.9 percent came from Russia, 19.5 percent – from Türkiye, 10.6 percent – from Iran, six percent – from Saudi Arabia, 5.1 percent – from Georgia, 3.2 percent – from Pakistan, 3.8 percent – from India, 2.6 percent – from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

A total of 1.9 percent of foreigners and stateless persons accounted for Kazakhstan, 1.8 percent – for Ukraine, 1.5 percent – for Israel, 1.4 percent – for Kuwait, 1.6 percent – for Uzbekistan, 1.2 percent – for Oman and for Belarus, and 10.8 percent – for other countries.
