Kazakhstan, China significantly increase cargo turnover via railway

Cargo turnover via railways between Kazakhstan and China amounted to 17.6 million tons in 2019, which is 25 percent more compared to 2018, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazkahstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways).

Over 6.8 million tons of cargo was shipped from China, which is 24 percent more than in 2018. In turn, Kazakhstan shipped 10.8 million tons to China which is 26 percent more than during 2018.

On October 29-30, 17 trains a day have passed through Dostyk and Alashankou, border stations between Kazakhstan and China, which is a record amount in the history of the border stations operation.

In September 2019, the agreement to receive and send 14 trains a day via broad gauge of Dostyk station was reached.

It was also forecast that due to the increased joint work of Kazakh and Chinese specialists, the volume of cargo turnover will amount to 16.5 million tons, which is 1.5 million tons more that the agreed plan and 2.5 million tons more than last year.
