The volume of cargo transported via the Northwest Railways of Iran increased by 69 percent in terms of net weight and 63 percent in terms of total weight during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20 - June 20, 2020), said Head of General Office of Northwest Railways Ali Khodaei, Trend reports referring to the railway office’s website.
Khodaei stressed that 76.1 million tons (net weight) of cargo werer transported via Northwest railways during the three months.
He added that during this period, 153.1 million tons (total weight) of cargo was transported via the railway.
The director general noted that iron concentrate, iron ore, grain and animal products, zinc soil, zinc and iron ingots, pellets, sulfur and other products were transported via railway.
Iran's Northwest Railways General Office operates Iran's Qazvin, Zanjan, East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan railways. The total length of the railway under the control of the office is 601 kilometers.
