The number of flights at Bandar Abbas Airport in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 46 percent in the third month of the current Iranian year (May 21-June 20), compared to the second month (April 20-May 20), General Director of Hormozgan Province Airports Department Abouzar Ziaei said, Trend reports citing, IRNA.

Ziaei stressed that 949 flights were registered at Bandar Abbas Airport in the third month and 79,200 passengers were transported through the airportt.

The official said that in recent days, the number of domestic flights to Iran's Kermanshah, Tabriz, Rasht, Mashhad and Isfahan cities have increased.

Ziaei noted that currently, flights to 16 cities are operated from the airport.

Iran's Bandar Abbas Airport is one of Iran's busiest airports. About 250 flights were operated through this airport every week.

Earlier, due to the spread of the coronavirus in Iran, domestic and international flights have been suspended for some time.

Iran continues to monitor the coronavirus situation in the country. According to recent reports from the Iranian officials, over 276,200 people have been infected and 14,405 people have already died. Meanwhile, over 240,000 have reportedly recovered from the disease.
