Iran reveals volume of cargo shipment via Iranian ports

A total of 65.6 million tons of cargo have been loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to October 8, Trend reports citing Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran’s website.

According to the report, the volume of loaded and unloaded cargo in Iranian ports decreased by 24 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 86.3 million tons of cargo was loaded and unloaded in the same period last Iranian year.

The cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereidoonkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Bandar Lengeh, Neka, and Bushehr.

During the reporting period, 24 million tons of oil products were loaded and unloaded. This is a decrease of 10.1 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (26.7 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 0.87 million tons during the reporting period. This is a decrease of 26.6 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (over 1.18 million tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 9.77 million tons, which is 30.4 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (14 million tons).

The general cargo volume stood at 9.37 million tons showing a 14.1 percent decrease compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (10.9 million tons).

Dry bulk cargo volume reached 20.9 million tons. This is a decrease of 35.7 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (over 32.4 million tons).

The liquid bulk cargo was 1.57 million tons. This is 28 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (2.18 million tons).
