Kazakhstan to increase electric vehicles manufacturing by 2022

Kazakhstan will produce 1,200 electric vehicles of various types in 2021, Trend reports citing the press office of Kazakhstan’s prime minister.

In 2022, the production number is to be increased to 2,000. These vehicles of Kazakh manufacturing will be exported abroad.

Currently, over 50 charging stations for electric vehicles operate in Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan city. This list was also expanded by commissioning special zones on the National Pavilion, which makes it possible to charge 25 electric vehicles at the same time.

A total of 50,656 vehicles worth 376.4 billion tenge ($879.3 million) were manufactured in Kazakhstan over nine months of 2020.

The passenger car production volume increased by 42.4 percent, having amounted to 42,498 cars. Buses manufacturing amounted to 1,401, an increase by 65.2 percent, production of cargo vehicles amounted to 5,273, which is 2.5 times more, of specialized vehicles from 61 vehicles to 212 vehicles, of trailers from 644 to 1,272 vehicles.

The number of vehicles manufactured in Sept. 2020 amounted to 6,858 cars, which is 40 percent more than during the same period last year (4,901 vehicles). The number of vehicles manufactured in Sept. 2020 is also 2 percent more than that of Aug. 2020.
