Automobile plant worth $16.2 million will be built in Jizzakh free economic zone in Uzbekistan by 2023, Trend reports referring to national database portal of legislation of Uzbekistan.
According to the investment program approved on December 28, 2020, by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, $10.5 million of them will be direct foreign investments and loans, another $5.6 million will be the own funds of Auto Motors Asia LLC.
Production capacity of the plant will amount to 27,000 cars per year. The administration of the Jizzakh region specified the plant will produce three models of crossovers (5- and 7-seated Dongfeng T5L crossovers), two light trucks and minibuses. In addition, it is possible that Changan will be presented only in the LCV segment.
According to administration of the Jizzakh region, the construction work is currently underway at the site.
This is not the only car production project associated with Chinese companies and indicated in the investment program of Uzbekistan. Namangan Changan Motors intends to establish production and assembly of commercial vehicles in the Namangan region. The first of them should roll off the assembly line in the current quarter of 2021. The plant will start with the production of only about 1,800 vehicles with a carrying capacity of 1-1.5 tons.
In addition, in the Navoi region, the Austrian Parsalpine Management is building a car plant with a capacity of 12,000 cars per year. The cost of the work approximately accounts for$12 million.
Meanwhile, in the Surkhandarya region, Abbos-Eco Agro plans to organize the production of passenger cars, minivans and mini-trucks. The project partner is the state holding BAIC Group. The declared volume of investments is $30 million and the production capacity accounts for 10,000 cars per year.
