Turkmen Railways exceed assigned cargo turnover plan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 8

The assigned cargo turnover plan for 2020 was exceeded by 20.5 percent by Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmen Railways) agency of Turkmenistan, said Chairman of Turkmen Railways Azat Atamyradov, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

Atamyradov made this remark at a working meeting on the development of Turkmenistan’s transport and communication sector, held by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The revenue part of the agency was exceeded by 18.5 percent for 2020.

During the period under review, 245 kilometers of railways were reconstructed, 32.7 kilometers of railways were updated, 90 railway crossings and 22 bridges were repaired. Also, more than 930 freight and passenger cars were modernized, 25 diesel locomotives were electrified, and the diesel part and traction motors of 25 locomotives were repaired.

In order to fulfill the instructions of the head of state to modernize the material and technical base of the industry and increase cargo turnover, appropriate work is being carried out, the report said.

From January through November 2020, the production plan for the transport and communication sector of Turkmenistan was exceeded by 19.4 percent.

Thus, the growth rate of Turkmen Railways Agency increased by 7.4 percent from January through November 2020.
