Spanish CAF eyes establishing co-op with Uzbekistan in railway transport

Spanish CAF plans to establish mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of railway transport, including suburban and urban transport, metro and trams, Trend reports referring to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Spain.

According to the information, a meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Madrid with representatives of CAF, the world's leading company engaged in the design, production, supply and maintenance of systems and equipment for railway transport.

During the meeting, the regional manager of the company, Juan Jose Garcia, informed that CAF has extensive experience in the implementation of complex railway projects under license or on a turnkey basis.

Taking into account the existing experience of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Spanish Talgo company in the implementation of projects to acquire high-speed trains and passenger cars at the expense of concessional credit lines of the Spanish government, CAF would like to discuss with the relevant ministries and departments of Uzbekistan proposals on establishing mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of rail transport, including suburban and urban transport, metro and trams.

It is reported that the Spanish side is interested in the implementation of projects and the creation of joint ventures with companies in Uzbekistan.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on organizing negotiations with the participation of representatives of the Ministries of Investment and Foreign Trade, Transport and Uzbekistan Railways JSC for a detailed discussion of issues of possible cooperation.
