The length of the railway line in the Semnan industrial park in the Semnan Province (north-eastern Iran) has been extended by 145 meters, Director General of the North-East Railway Regional Office Farshad Zadkhor said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

Zadkhor noted that 7.5 billion rials (about $178,000) were spent on the construction of the railway line.

“The launch of the railway line has increased the unloading of imported products, including oilseeds and cotton, by 40 percent,” he added.

The director-general stressed that the number of wagons to be unloaded annually increased from 9,000 to 12,500 with the launch of this railway line.

Zadkhor said that this railway line is currently used for the transportation and unloading of imported oilseeds and cotton. Given the capacity of the Semnan industrial park, the railway line will be used for other purposes in the future.
