The first cargo train from Kazakhstan has arrived in Iran in transit through Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan information portal.
Governor of Golestan Province Hadi Haghshenas expressed hope that the arrival of the train in Iran will be the beginning of the growth of regional trade.
As reported, Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran railway operates between the three countries.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan earlier told Trend, the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway has opened up new opportunities for further development of international cooperation.
This highway has become an important transport corridor connecting North with South and East with West. It is of strategic importance for the revival of the Great Silk Road, the development of mutual trade between the countries of Central Asia, the Caspian region and neighboring regions.
