A new trade route between India and Kyrgyzstan through Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will be established, President of the Kyrgyz Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (KUIE) Danil Ibraev said during a meeting with the Indian business delegation in Bishkek, Trend reports citing Business Turkmenistan
According to Ibraev, in order to build a trade route with India, the KUIE held negotiations with railway operators in Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
“We are now consolidating the efforts of the railways of Iran, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan to Osh (India). Within a month the trade route will be ready for the pilot passage of wagons at tariffs that, in our opinion, will be competitive,” he said.
He also said that trade between India and Kyrgyzstan will take place through a port in the Iranian city of Bandar Abbas. From the port, goods from India will be able to be transported by rail to the south of Kyrgyzstan and back.
"From the port of Bandar Abbas through Iran - 1,600 kilometers, then through Serakhs (a village in Turkmenistan on the border with Iran), then Uzbekistan and to Osh," he explained.
The President of the KUIE added that the total length of the trade route from the port of Bandar Abbas to the city of Osh will be 3,060 kilometers; the travel time will amount to 10 days.
In turn, the head of the Indian business delegation Asif Iqbal noted that the sea route from India to the port of Bandar Abbas takes 12 days.
