The transit of TEU containers through the Shahid Rajaee Port in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 74 percent, during the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Director General of Ports and Maritime Department in Hormozgan Province Alireza Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Mohammadi emphasized that about 142,000 TEU containers were transited through the Shahid Rajaee port in 7 months.
The director general also added that 253,000 TEU containers were exported through the Shahid Rajaee port within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 11 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
"Moreover, about 221,000 TEU containers were imported through this port in seven months. This is a decrease of 6 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year," he noted.
As reported, Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port is located on an area of 2,400 hectares. The port has the capacity to receive 100 million tons of cargo a year.
