BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The volume of cargo loaded/unloaded at the Anzali and Astara ports of Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 4 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Director General of Ports and Maritime Department of Gilan Province Hamid Reza Abaei said, Trend reports citing Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
“In total, about 1.68 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the mentioned ports of the Gilan Province within last Iranian year,” Abaei noted.
The director general also added that more than 533,000 tons of oil products were exported from the two ports of the Gilan Province to the Caspian littoral states last Iranian year.
According to him, the exports from the Anzali port increased by 79 percent, while from the Astara port - by 8 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year.
Meanwhile, exports of non-oil products through the Anzali and Astara ports of Gilan Province for the last Iranian year increased by 51 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year, the official pointed out.
Abaei emphasized that moreover, 6,433 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the mentioned two ports of the province for the reporting period.
“Thus, 5,304 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the Anzali port and 1,129 - at the Astara port,” he said.
The director general also pointed out that a total of 656 ships docked at the two ports of Gilan Province last Iranian year.
