BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 8. Last week, Azerbaijan noted that implementing major logistics projects made Azerbaijan an international transport hub, Trend reports.

Moreover, it was emphasized that the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) makes a positive contribution to regional and global economic integration of the organization's member states, attracting financial resources to support national priorities, and fostering the implementation of UNECE and UNESCAP standards.

In addition, the construction of various highways and railroads, launch of new international airports, building of the Baku International Sea Trade Port and the establishment of the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ) have turned Azerbaijan into the international transport and logistics center. Today, Azerbaijan continues to invest in transport infrastructure, especially in Karabakh's highways and railroads, as well as recovering the historical links of the region through connecting the northern transport networks with the southern and eastern ones.

Furthermore, last week, it was revealed that Azerbaijan has a favorable geographical position in terms of logistics opportunities. In this regard, Germany has a strong interest in expanding economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, as well as in investing into industrial zones, expanding the use of their technologies in Azerbaijani enterprises, as well as applying German experience in Azerbaijan, including in personnel qualification.

It was also stressed that the role of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor) in ensuring transit flows between Europe, Central Asia, and China is growing in modern conditions. Joint (the SCO member states) implementation of the route's potential will ensure stable cargo volumes and sustainable transportation.

Also, it was outlined that Azerbaijan is pursuing a policy of improving the transport management system in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, using environmentally friendly transport modes, as well as increasing the use of electric vehicles and public transport.
