BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 6. The volume of cargo transported from Iran’s North Khorasan Province to other provinces of the country decreased by 13.9 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Road and Transport Department of North Khorasan Province Mohammad Moshtari said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Overall, 2.44 million tons of cargo were transported from the province in 10 months, Moshtari said.
The director general noted that the main transported goods were urea, cement and aluminum, etc. and transported mainly from Bojnord County of the North Khorasan Province.
According to him, there are 26 companies operating in the province on cargo transportation. The mentioned companies have 7,859 trucks. Of these, 3,218 are pick-up trucks, and 4,641 are other trucks.
Meanwhile, a total of 382 million tons of cargo were transported by trucks via Iranian roads within the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022), which is an increase of 2 percent compared to 374 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
