BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Astara port in Gilan Province (northern Iran) decreased by 19.7 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Approximately 179,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Astara port in the last Iranian year. Of that, about 104,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 74,700 tons were unloaded.
Last year, about 95,000 tons of cargo were exported and 64,600 tons were imported through the Astara port.
Also, 9,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 9,320 tons were unloaded at the port for transit, as well as 735 tons were unloaded for other purposes within the mentioned period.
Some 11,500 tons of essential products, 5,070 tons of metal products and 59,200 tons of construction and mining materials and 1,160 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts were loaded and unloaded at the Astara port for the last Iranian year.
Moreover, about 28,000 tons of chemicals, about 61,000 tons of leather goods, clothing, wood materials, paper, etc., 2,400 tons of small and assorted goods, 10,300 tons of container products and 31 tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded at this port for the reporting period.
Overall, approximately 152 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports over the last Iranian year.
Of that, about 80 million tons were loaded and 71.7 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 1.7 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year.
