Iran names volume of essential products transported from Imam Khomeini port to provinces

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 3. Overall, 5.48 million tons of essential products (wheat, barley, rice, etc.) were transported from Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), to other provinces of the country in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), Director General of Roads and Transport Department of Khuzestan Province Mohammad Jolanejad said, Trend reports.

Jolanehad also said that the mentioned volume of goods was transported by 218,561 trucks.

“In the 6th month alone (August 23 through September 22, 2023), 961,000 tons of essential products were transported from Imam Khomeini port to other regions of the country, which is an increase of 32 percent compared to the same month last year,” he added.

Iran's Imam Khomeini Port is located on an area of 11,000 hectares. This port has capacity to receive 54.5 million tons of products per year.

Meanwhile, approximately 17.6 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port within the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023). This is an increase of 5 percent compared with the same period last year.
