Registration of international observers for Kazakh elections completed

Accreditation of observers from foreign countries and international organisations for the parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan ended on Jan.9, the country's CEC said on Tuesday.

According to recent figures, the forthcoming elections scheduled for Jan 15 will be observed by 937 international observers. Of these, 819 are representatives of foreign countries and international organisations, while 118 are from foreign media outlets.

Some 309 observers represent the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, 262 - the CIS mission, 46 - OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, 15 - Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), 11 - SCO Observer Mission, 9 - Cooperation Council for the Turkic-speaking states, 7 - Organisation of Islamic Cooperation 10 - Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA) and 150 observers from 29 foreign countries.
