Kazakhstan ratifies agreement with South Korea on extradition

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a law on ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea on extradition, Kazakh presidential press service reported on Tuesday.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a law on ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea on extradition, Kazakh presidential press service reported on Tuesday.

The agreement was signed in Seoul on Nov.13, 2003. The agreement aims at creating a legal framework for cooperation between the competent authorities of Kazakhstan and Korea on the issue of extradition of fugitives from the investigation, inquiry or trial, as well as evading from serving sentence.

According to the agreement, each party should hand over wanted person to the other side for prosecution, executing the sentence and etc..

Article 3 of the agreement envisages provides exhaustive grounds, under which refusal from extradition is binding, while Article 4 envisages grounds, under which refusal is possible.
