Kazakhstan, US discuss aspects of multilateral cooperation

Kazakhstan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Erlan Idrisov and US Secretary of State John Kerry held a telephone conversation on the results of the visit of Kazakh Foreign Minister to the United States, the report of the Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.

"During the conversation the heads of foreign ministers of Kazakhstan and the United States have agreed to continue close contacts, underscoring a special spirit of partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States that contributes to the successful development of relations in all directions of cooperation," the report said.

According to the report, Kerry was in Boston in connection with the health of his wife Teresa Heinz.

During the conversation, Kerry thanked Kazakhstan for contributions for stabilization of situation in Afghanistan and support of this country to the Afghan National Security Forces, as well as noted the efforts of this country in assistance to the social and economic revival of Afghanistan and praised Kazakhstan's leadership in the region.

Talking about Kazakhstan's leading role in the field of nuclear disarmament, the head of the US Department of State thanked Kazakhstan for the organization of the two rounds of international negotiations on Iran's nuclear program in Almaty.

US Secretary of State expressed interest in information on the approval of Kazakhstan's concept of transition to green economy and the measures taken by Kazakhstan to implement this concept. Noting the perspectives of economic opportunities, Kerry expressed his hope for joint work of Kazakhstan and the United States in this area, especially in science and technology sphere.

Idrisov also informed his US counterpart on Kazakhstan's main achievements in socio-economic sphere, the goals and objectives set by the head of the State in Kazakhstan's 2050 Development Strategy.

The two sides highly appreciated the work of the Commission on Strategic Partnership, the second meeting of which was held within the framework of this visit. During the meeting of the Commission a ceremony of exchange of notes for the entry into force of the agreement on mutual granting of multiple entry visas for five years to the nationals of the two countries was held. This measure will take effect from August 1, and will contribute to a significant enlargement of mutual trips of citizens for business, scientific, cultural, educational, sporting, academic, tourism and other purposes.
