By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Kazakhstan has maintained the right to regulate the prices for air and rail tickets in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAU), Assylbek Duisebayev, deputy chairman of the country's Natural Monopolies Regulation Agency (NMRA) said on April 30, at a press conference in Astana.

"The discussions held to define the clauses of the future agreement on the Eurasian Union, touched upon the issues regarding the regulation of the prices for air and rail tickets. As you know, this is regulated by the state in every country. We found a suitable formulation and were able to defend that price controls on air and rail tickets remain at the national level," NMRA deputy chairman added.

The presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus are to sign an agreement on the EAU in late May.
