Inflation hits 0.6 percent in Kazakhstan in Jan.

Inflation hit 0.6 percent in Kazakhstan in Jan., Kazakh Statistics Committee under the Economy Ministry reported Feb. 2.

Food rose in price by 1.2 percent, paid services -0.7 percent, non-food items decreased in price 0.1 percent in the reporting period.

In January, among food goods, the average price for fresh vegetables increased by 11.1 percent, potatoes - 3.6 percent, buckwheat - 2.6 percent, fresh fruits - 2.3 percent, pasteurized milk - 1.4 percent, sour yogurt, eggs - 1.1, bread - 0.9 percent, tea - 0.8 percent, first grade wheat flour - 0.7 percent, and butter, curds - 0.6 percent.

Meanwhile lemons reduced in price by 1.2 percent, buttery spread, sugar - 0.4 percent, chicken - 0.3 percent.

The increase in prices for pharmaceutical products reached 1 percent, cloths and footwear - 0.5 percent, solid fuel, household goods - 0.4 percent. Gasoline prices fell 4.7 percent, diesel fuel - 1.8 percent.

Fares for intercity public transport rose by 5.3 percent percent. Health care services and catering services increased in price 0.7 percent. Payment for legal services increased 7.5 percent, insurance for personal vehicles - 7.1 percent.

In the sphere of housing and communal servic, tariffs for electricity rose 1.3 percent, garbage collection - 1 percent, housing maintenance - 0.2 percent.
