Launch of spaceship in Kazakhstan becomes high-level int'l event

The heads of the diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan visited the Baikonur cosmodrome and observed the launch of the transport manned spacecraft SOYUZ-MS-07.

The list of foreign officials, visiting the cosmodrome included the ambassadors of Austria, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Canada, Cuba, Morocco, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, as well as the heads of the missions of the European Union, the OSCE and the United Nations in Kazakhstan, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said in a message.

The visit of ambassadors to Baikonur was organized by the executive body of Kyzylorda region and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan on December 17.

As part of the visit to the cosmodrome, local authorities conducted a sightseeing tour of the Baikonur Museum, the museum of the cosmodrome, the Buran orbital ship, and the memorial houses of famous USSR astronauts Korolev and Gagarin for the diplomats.

The delegation also visited the memorial "Korkyt ata" complex.

The visit of the foreign diplomats was organized as part of the state measures to attract foreign investments, as well as to strengthen tourist potential and positive image of Kazakhstan’s regions of Kazakhstan.
