Coal production is decreasing in Kazakhstan Ekibastuz city as the city is trying to reduce dependence on coal-run economy, Head of Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region Abylkair Skakov said, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.
This is envisioned within the comprehensive development plan for Ekibastuz, which the regional authorities are developing on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan. The citizens themselves and independent specialists took an active part in the plan’s creation.
“Investment projects for a total cost of 227.5 billion tenge ($532.5 million) are potentially ready for implementation in the industrial zone of Ekibastuz within the plan. The modernization of power units is being carried out in the city, which should provide the necessary capacities for the developing industry of the region and the country,” Skakov said.
One of the key goals of the plan is to reduce the dependence of the Ekibastuz economy on the fuel and energy complex against the backdrop of a downward trend in coal production and the transition to innovative technologies. According to the head of the region, the regional leadership will increase the share of processing.
“The comprehensive development plan also provides for the solution of the everyday problems of the townspeople,” he added.
