Kazakhstan talks several key projects to be launched by end of 2021

Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov spoke about several key projects, to be launched by the end of 2021 in the country, at the government’s meeting, Trend reports citing Kazinform.

“The first of them is a project to expand the Aktogay mining plant in the East Kazakhstan region (KAZ Minerals Aktogay LLP), which will increase the processing capacity of sulphide ore by 2 times to 50 million tons per year and ensure 90-percent growth in copper production - up to 190,000 tons per year,” Atamkulov said.

According to him, the Aktogay mining plant has implemented elements of Industry 4.0, namely a digital monitoring system for the entire mining process from ore mining to production. Digitization can improve the efficiency of production processes and optimize the operation of the enterprise.

Besides, the minister touched upon the project of production of aluminum cans in the city of Shymkent, being implemented for the first time in Kazakhstan.

“Now we import 700 million aluminum cans a year. The implementation of this project will meet the internal demand of the food industry by 65 percent ​​(500 million units per year)," Atamkulov explained.

Another project, which was mentioned by him, is the construction of the Saryarka ferroalloy plant in the Karaganda region, implemented by Qaz Carbon LLP (Kaz Carbon). The company uses innovative technologies to produce high quality ferroalloys and manganese agglomerates. The manufactured products are completely export-oriented (US, Japan, Korea, Turkey and European countries).
