Kazakhstan names mechanical engineering industry's production volume

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 15. The production volume of the mechanical engineering industry in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.3 trillion tenge (about $7.27 billion) from January through October 2023, said First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar said, Trend reports.

As he noted, the volume of investments in this area for the above period amounted to 155 billion tenge (about $341 million).

The export volume for 9 months of this year amounted to $2.8 billion. The growth compared to the same period last year was 43 percent.

According to Sklyar, the government has developed and approved a Comprehensive Plan that will modernize the mechanical engineering industry over the next 5 years.

The main measures of the Comprehensive Plan include the introduction of a mechanism for priority provision of raw materials, increasing the availability of financing, improving tax legislation, and stimulating the sale of mechanical engineering products.

The Comprehensive Plan includes 79 measures in 7 areas. The main ones are ensuring an increase in production volume by 4.5 times and bringing it in terms of value to 11-12 trillion tenge (about $24.2-26.4 billion), export volume by 3 times, investment by 1.5 times, etc.

Meanwhile, industrial products worth 33.972 trillion tenge (about $70.9 billion) were manufactured in Kazakhstan from January through September 2023.

These products were manufactured in the mining industry for 15.925 trillion tenge, or about $33.2 billion (46.9 percent of the total volume), and in the manufacturing industry for 15.890 trillion tenge, or about $33.16 billion (46.8 percent).

Production growth is observed in the mining and quarrying industry by 5.4 percent, the manufacturing industry by 3.2 percent, the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and air conditioning by 5.1 percent, the collection, processing, and disposal of waste, and pollution elimination activities by 5.6 percent.
